DTF Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
CLEAN. PROTECT. KEEP PRINTING.
The right solution for the right maintenance task.
Compare DTFSOLUTIONS printer-care fluids and MagicClean® to choose the right approach for cleaning, wet capping, downtime protection and clog recovery.
Choose by the task—not just the bottle
Removing a clog, protecting an idle printhead and cleaning hardened ink from external components require different procedures. Match the solution to the task and follow the instructions for your exact printer and ink system.
| Solution | Primary purpose | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning Solution | Printhead cleaning, flushing and minor clog removal. | Not for wet capping. |
| XTREME Cleaning Solution | Stubborn clogs and compatible ink-line flushing. | Use after regular cleaning is insufficient. Not for wet capping. |
| Capping Solution | End-of-day wet capping and short-term protection. | Protects the resting printhead; does not clean or unclog it. |
| Maintenance Solution | Planned downtime and vacation-mode preservation. | Begin with a properly functioning printhead and clean nozzle check. Does not remove clogs. |
| De-Plasticizing Solution | Hardened ink removal from appropriate external components. | Apply with suitable swabs. Never inject into printhead channels or pour into the capping station. |
| LAST CHANCE Solution | Severe clog recovery after conventional cleaning fails. | Not for wet capping or storage. Flush thoroughly with compatible regular cleaning solution afterward, before restoring ink. |
| MagicClean® | All-in-one cleaning, flushing, wet capping and downtime care. | Combines several maintenance functions. Follow the procedure appropriate to each use. |

Common maintenance situations
Missing nozzles or a minor clog
First check your printer’s prescribed troubleshooting procedure. Where compatible cleaning is appropriate, start with regular Cleaning Solution. Use XTREME for persistent clogs when routine cleaning has been unsuccessful.
Finishing production for the day
Complete the printer’s required cleaning routine, then use Capping Solution—or MagicClean where compatible—for wet capping according to the equipment instructions.
Preparing for a vacation or extended shutdown
Confirm a clean nozzle check before beginning the prescribed downtime procedure. Use Maintenance Solution or MagicClean where compatible to preserve the printhead during inactivity.
Hardened ink around the wiper or capping area
Use De-Plasticizing Solution on appropriate external surfaces with suitable cleaning swabs. Keep it out of printhead channels and the inside of the capping station.
A severe clog that has resisted cleaning
LAST CHANCE provides an intensive recovery option before printhead replacement is considered. Follow its controlled cleaning procedure and subsequent flushing instructions. Recovery is not guaranteed.
Capping and Maintenance Solutions do not remove clogs. Do not substitute cleaning fluids for wet-capping fluids, mix solutions, or improvise flushing procedures. Confirm compatibility with your printer and ink system before use.
